The Pleasant Grove Lacrosse Club was founded in 2007.  After their sons played a half season in the Elk Grove Lacrosse Club, Paul Abess and Paul Frank decided to start a program closer to home for the kids in the River Valley area and within the Pleasant Grove High School boundaries.  They processed through the legalities, recruited their kids’ friends, and had one team in the spring of 2007.

The first junior level team became the Northern California Champions that year, topping 16 teams in their division.  The next year there were four teams, and two brought home the title of Champions.  The next two years there were seven teams, including one girls’ team.  In 2010 there was another Championship team, this time at the JV level.

The Pleasant Grove Lacrosse Club has hosted clinics, spoken to youth at schools, organized “field trips” to college games, been “Team of the Month” in the  nationally-distributed Lacrosse Magazine, and continually promotes the sport of lacrosse in Northern California.

The success of the Club is attributed not just to the players, but the outstanding Board, coaches, parents, sponsors and donors who support the PGLC lacrosse program.

The coaches focus on teaching the student athletes.  They expect the players to show character, respect, integrity and to honor the game.  They help develop the whole youth and mentor when appropriate.  A commonly heard mantra is “one ground ball,” meaning that the little things can make a big difference!
